Police need police dogs. By Kirsten

Does your police department have dogs?
I believe that police dogs help a policeman in many ways.

Original

Firstly, being a police officer is  a dangerous job and a dog can protect you. Secondly, dogs can chase and catch bad guys and thirdly, they can sniff out lost people.

Original
A police dog can protect the police by
biting, chasing the culprit into a corner and also by
barking to warn the police someone bad is coming.

Original

Dogs are way faster than any human so they can chase and catch bad guys. Then, they keep hold of the bad guy until the policeman gets there.

Original
A dog’s nose can pick up thousands of scents and find people who are lost or trapped somewhere.Lost people leave clothing at home with their  scent on and a dog can sniff that and then go looking for the person. Try doing that with your nose and see how successful you are.

So, I’m sure that you will agree that the police definitely couldn’t do their jobs without the help of their dogs. Not only do they help catch bad guys, they also protect policemen from the bad guys.Plus, they save the lives of many hurt and lost people every year. Helpful hardworking hounds are helpful to humans.

This week Miss Dixon read out sentences and we had to visualize what we saw we shared it with a buddy the buddy had to make sentences out of what we drew. Cassandra was my buddy.Mrs D sentences. It was time to take our pedigree for a walk.

When we got to the park a scruffy dog came along.

The day was hot. The park was empty. It was quiet.

So I took the opportunity and the view from the top was incredible.  Here is mine.

Reading Tm 2 Wk 6

Kia ora
In this activity we had to mach the colors to each statement to help us understand how to sequence an argument. I found this easy to do and completed it all by myself.

Understanding how to structure and write an argument.
The first paragraph of an argument is called the THESIS. A THESIS is something that you believe. In a piece of argument writing, a THESIS is made up of two parts. Part 1 is your sentence about what you believe. This is called a POSITION STATEMENT.
Part 2 is made up of three sentences each of which tells one argument in support of what you believe. This is called your PREVIEW OF ARGUMENTS. These three sentences start with Firstly, Secondly and Thirdly.

In this exercise you need to match a POSITION STATEMENT with a PREVIEW OF ARGUMENTS.Use the ‘Fill tool’ to colour code the matching statements.

I believe that no one should be able to have more than two children.
Firstly, they are much cleaner than dogs. Secondly, they are easier to look after. Thirdly, they are much softer and fluffier than dogs.
I believe that dairy farmers are not doing enough to prevent pollution of waterways on their land.
Firstly, chocolate is something people get addicted to.Secondly, often it is very expensive.Thirdly, people have been known to kill for chocolate.
I believe that homework should be banned.
