Senses Writing

Kia ora
This week in week in writing we were working on using our senses.
We were given a picture and used it to create a short story using 4 senses.
My teaches all say this is really good.
I hope you enjoy.

The Road

The green grass crunches under my feet.
The mist fogs up my vision as I walk down the lonely stretch of road.
The crumbling stone walls guide through the overgrown path.
Skinny wooden fingers grab me and scratch my eyes while I fight to continue.
Where am I going?
Who knows.
How did I get here?
How would I know.
To continue is the only thing I remember.
The weeds tickle my feet and ankles.
I run my fingers over the rough rock wall.
Should I jump over?
No.
The fog gets thicker and I can no longer see my hands.
Is that a light?
Nope, trick of the eye.
I feel sleepy, I sit on the wet grass, my eyes flicker.
Darkness rushes forward, then...

Nothing

Cross Country

Kia ora
Just yesterday we had Cross Country.
When all the schools had arrived we walked the track.
then we walked back to our tent to wait and cheer on our school,
When it was my turn I had to race against 11 year olds.
With their long legs they easily beat me but I got in the top 20.
Here are some photos.

My Science Fair project

My science fair group has Alexis and Cassidy in it.
Our question is: Will a can be rolled with static electricity?
So far the can would very, very slowly roll towards the balloon then slightly pick up speed, then suddenly stop!
After a while we changed to a different balloon and it moved faster and moved for longer.
I wonder if we changed to a different balloon again, would it move faster or slower
The science fair has not happened yet, but we can't wait.

Learning how to write reports about a scientific experiment.

Kia ora.
We are having a science fair this term so we needed to learn how to write a report about a scientific experiment. Our teachers chopped a piece of scientific writing into bits and we had to sort them out into the right order. We had to match the structure clues with the correct sentences and paragraphs. It was tricky. When we were finished we used the report to carry out a floating and sinking experiment using Blutack. The Blutack wouldn’t float unless we squeezed  it into the shape of a boat. My group said it was fun but I missed out because I was at the doctors. Here is a picture.

Our science experiments

Kia ora
We have been doing science experiments in preparation for the science fair. Here is a photo of one of our experiments.
In this photo my group and I were making tea bags fly.
I am the one in the MARS jumper.
